Projects
On-the-ground, community-based projects are essential to helping accomplish Alberta NAWMP’s goals. Here are just a few examples of the making the most of habitat available in working landscapes.

Two halves make a whole…lot of habitat
The 640-acre Bulka project has plenty of potential for habitat conservation and enhancement. So in 2008 the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC), Alberta Conservation Association (ACA) and Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) jointly purchased this central Alberta property. The two halves of the property are distinctly different, so the agencies have split it into two parcels.
Alberta ranchers benefit from a unique partnership
From a conservation perspective, the Jefferson Conservation Pasture story is interesting and unique. This 3000-acre land restoration project, located in the Jefferson Moraine southwest of Lethbridge, is headed by Ducks Unlimited Canada in partnership with the Nature Conservancy of Canada and the Alberta Conservation Association.
A fountain of information
Assuring the effective stewardship of Alberta’s environmental systems to sustain a high quality of life — that’s the mission of the Alberta Ministry of the Environment. That mission also includes an ambitious project to inventory all of Alberta’s wetlands.

The Alberta NAWMP Partnership is an excellent example of the cooperation we need. Working with partners is the key to moving conservation efforts along.
